WELCOME
Welcome to the web-site! The reason
many folk use this site is to check out the church before coming, and the
purpose of these pages is to give you a feel for where we're at as a fellowship.
We're an independent evangelical church. That means we are not a part of any
denomination, because along with many others we believe the Bible teaches the
autonomy of individual congregations. However we also believe that as well as
being independent we are inter-dependent and love to express and enjoy
fellowship with other Bible churches. For that reason we affiliate to the FIEC
(the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches), whose web-site is linked
elsewhere on our site.
We are evangelical, which means we are committed to the Bible. We believe it is
God's word without error, and we seek to shape our lives, both individually and
corporately, by it. It also means we love to celebrate and share the radical
transforming good news about Jesus Christ and what he did for us on the cross.
Our style of worship is warm, real and word centred. We love to sing songs both
old and new that help us praise and worship our Sovereign God, and we attach
great importance to the regular expository preaching of the Bible. For us the
pinnacle of worship is as we understand more of what God has revealed about
himself and his Kingdom. We use a variety of instrumentalists and singers. We
expect God to speak to his people and expect God's people to not only know the
truth but to let that truth shape the whole of their lives.
Our Sunday morning service (10.30am) centres around the ministry of the Bible to
Christians. We usually work systematically through a Bible book or letter and
seek not only to understand what God is saying but also how that must be applied
for us today. We have more time to respond in worship. About 400 people attend
this service, including many students, families and children.
Our Sunday evening service (6.00pm) seeks to be sensitive to those who would be
unfamiliar with church or the Christian message, and the Bible ministry will
always speak of God's glorious plan of salvation. About 250 people attend this
service with provision for an additional 40 children in other activities.
We are an inner-city church serving the community of Easton. That means our
congregations have a broad mix of many different nationalities. We delight in
the varieties between young and old, black and white, rich and poor, highly
educated or not, refugee or from any walk of life. You would be welcome!
If you want to ask me any questions about the church please use the email
facilities present on this site. And if you visit the church, please come and
introduce yourself either to me (Andy Paterson) or one of my colleagues.
